Who gets to decide if your child is ready for Kindergarten? l In a recent article in the SJ Mercury News, by Sharon Noguchi, the Mountain View-Whisman School District may be taking the decision out of the parent's hands. The article states that "... not just parents, will determine kindergarten readiness. If a parent wants to hold back an eligible child from kindergarten, the district will evaluate whether that child should enter kindergarten the next year or go straight to first grade."
