2013 National Young Composers Workshop

 2013 National Young Composers Workshop

Do you know a young musician interested in writing music? In a FREE full-day workshop on October 5th, 2013, young musicians, ages 13 to 18, will have a unique opportunity to learn from nationally acclaimed composers how to write music for orchestra or chamber ensemble. In addition to lectures and presentations by top music educators, live instrument and ensemble demonstrations will be presented by Marin Symphony musicians.

The workshop will be held at San Domenico School, located at 1500 Butterfield Road in San Anselmo. All interested music students are encouraged to attend. Students who have written music may bring their compositions for feedback. The workshop is available on a first-come first-serve basis and only a limited number will be allowed to attend, so register early.

Students who wish to create a composition can also participate in the Challenge. Each Fall, three orchestra compositions and three ensemble compositions will be selected for performance by the Marin Symphony at the NYCC Composium.
The 10th National Young Composers Challenge is sponsored by the Marin Symphony, the University of Central Florida, Rollins College, Full Sail University, and the Goldman Charitable Foundation.

Attendance is FREE but space is limited so it is important to register as soon as possible to assure a seat.
