The Cupertino Union School District and the Cupertino Educational Endowment Foundation are working on a campaign to raise funds to put more non-fiction books in the hands of school children. The new Common Core State Standards, which come into effect in 2014, call for placing a higher emphasis on reading non-fiction selections. The belief is that this emphasis will better prepare our students for the demands of a more competitive global economy.
