Choosing & applying to colleges, discerning life’s course after
High School is a family affair, often filled with excitement and angst.
While some stress can be expected, come learn what your student
needs most from you as he/she takes steps toward
charting the course for their future.
Parents and students… This evening is for you! Learn ways to reduce stress during the
college application process and at the same time reduce your own anxiety! Get tips on how to help
manage the angst and uncertainty each of you feel anticipating college and discern life after high
school. This presentation by Carol & Lisa of On the Edge Of Coaching, along with a panel of
college and high school students, will allow you to hear directly from local students what’s going
on in their world, their heads and their hearts. Hear what teens need and want in ways of support
from their parents.
We will discuss:
A parent’s supporting role in keeping students on track and focused
Teaching resiliency and guidance toward independence
Strengthening the parent/teen relationship with one another
Encouraging communication and how to ask for what you need
Acknowledging progress every step of the way
Modeling and teaching life-long skills after your teen leaves home
