Fremont Union High School District's board has voted to put two items on the ballot in November. They will request an extension of the current Parcel Tax, and request a School Bond. The bond request will be for $295 million (tax rate of $21/year, per $100,000 of assessed valuation of taxable property). The Parcel Tax extension will ask to continue the current $98 annual property tax for another six years (it is due to expire June 30, 2016). In an article in the Sunnyvale Sun, board president Bill Wilson is quoted, "We need a bond program to give us the funds primarily to build new classroom space for those students who are coming along." Projections estimate an additional 1,850 students coming into the district between 2010-2020.
