California Legislation Limiting Student Data

"A lawmaker in California is expected to introduce legislation intended to safeguard students' personal data. Under the proposal, education-related websites, online services and mobile applications for K-12 students could not compile, use or share data for purposes other than as specified by the school or for product maintenance. Technology providers also would be required to encrypt students' data and delete it when it is no longer needed for the purposes of the school."  (from Accomplished Teacher website)
