“Exercise, Nutrition and Sports Conditioning for Your Growing Teen”, 2/24, 7:30pm

SMS PTSA Parent Education Program:

“Exercise, Nutrition and Sports Conditioning for Your Growing Teen”
Tuesday, April 24th, 7:30-8:30pm,
Sunnyvale Middle School Multi-Purpose Room
1080 Mango Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA

With Spring sports season in full swing, it’s a great time to learn more about how to keep your child safe and healthy when participating in P.E. and extracurricular sports programs. Our expert panel will include several Sunnyvale Middle School P.E. teachers/after-school sports coaches, registered dietician Anna Lague and Jesse Free, Fellow/Athletic Trainer at Stanford University. Jesse is currently a liaison between the Stanford Softball and Football teams and a Stanford-led research study into concussion management and return to play – of particular interest to parents whose children play contact sports.

The panel will offer tips and best practices for sports and exercise conditioning, review the dangers of over and under-conditioning and provide guidance for proper nutrition to fuel growing pre-teen and teenage bodies. Ample time will be provided for audience Q&A. The event is open to the public and there is no need to RSVP, just show up!
